GET OVER IT
The songs constantly on repeat. The videos on your watch history. Your favorite snacks - gone. “6..7...” Themed birthday parties. Halloween costumes you wore as a family. The mini van you vowed never to drive and yet, here you are researching which one to buy or cleaning up the pounds of crumbs left behind.
What alternative is there anyway? Regretting not listening to the songs? Not watching those videos you thought were silly or pointless? Regretting buying the van in favor of the 2-door car? The costumes or not wearing them?
Get over it. When we have kids to raise this is our life. Walls will have crayon lines. Floors will be covered with crumbs. Toothpaste will splatter on the bathroom mirror. We will start singing those songs and joyfully watching the same movies or videos. It is all worth if. For them and for us. To have these moments when all they want is you. The dream car is cool. A perfect home that is well kept is great for real estate agents but it isn’t a “home.” A place with kids should look and feel like it.
It isn’t about you or your status symbols. It isnt about your ego. You’re a family man/women. This job of raising kids - is the most important thing we’ll ever do. So yes i know, sometimes it might feel unfair. Or that you gave up a whole lot. But they didn’t decide to be here. You made that happen. So have fun in all the moments you’ll later regret not having fun in or later you’ll wish you had once more. You have it all - right now.
